2002 BMW R1150GS
In September of 2002 I was at my dealer's, BMW Fort Worth,
waiting for some new skins for the R1150RT. I was sitting next to a new 2002 Black/Gold R1150GS Adventure. The bike
was yelling at me like no other bike before had in the past. It was screaming at me to take a ride. Since I'm weak
I acted on the offer and I wasn't more than a block from the dealer's when I knew I would make a deal on the bike
within the week.
Here's a pic taken after I brought the bike home.

Aeroflow Full Fairing
For someone that sits tall in the seat the stock shield is totally inadequate. The solution is to either
remove it entirely or get the Aeroflow Full Fairing. I chose the latter and couldn't be happier. I'm still
able to see well above the windscreen and the pocket it provides is adequate. There's no comparison
to the stock, non-adjustable shield of the GS Adventure. Quality and craftsmanship are spectacular and the
mounting system ensures the screen is securely fastened to the bike.

Bill Mayer Saddle
I had hope the stock seat would be adequate for at least a 100 mile ride, but not a chance. After 50 my ass
was screamin' for relief. I contacted Rocky Mayer and Bill Mayer Saddles to make me a custom seat. This
was my first BMS as I'm a Day-Long man. But after contacting Rocky I decided to give him my business. From
the time I spoke with him to the time I recveived the seat was 4 weeks. Simply amazing.
As of February 15, 2003 I only have 1400 miles on the seat. It's going to take another 1500 to fully break
in the seat and provide a full authoratative evaluation, but for now the seat is performing wonderfully. I
expect it to continue to mature and provide a high degree of comfort for those long days and nights in the
saddle. Check out Bill Mayer Saddles
for more information.

Jesse Luggage
I opted for the Jesse Luggage. I wasn't really down with the BMW system cases. I heard reports of poor quality
and, besides, there's no doubting the Jesse's just look damn good. Their quality and craftsmanship cannot be
denied either. Check out Jesse Luggage Systems
for more information.

Note the exhaust extension in the second picture. While some folks have not put on an extension my dealer
and I were a little concerned about the exhaust heating up the contents of the left saddlebag. Since the
kit didn't come with an extension, my dealer made one for me. My kind of dealer -
BMW Fort Worth.
PIAA 520 Fogs
The stock lighting system isn't adequate for night time rides through the sticks with all of the critters
out in full force. Plus, turning night into day is mandatory for endurance riders. I decided on a set of PIIA
520 fogs. These lights throw an absolutely gorgeous beam down the road. The spread of the beam is nice and wide
and illuminates both sides of the road entirely. I'm not sure if I'll add a set of driving lights just yet.
A few more night time miles are in order before making that decision.
Check out the PIIA website
for more information.

Tourathech Headlight Guard
To protect the stock lighting system from debris I chose the clear lexan headlight guard from Touratech.
It mounts easily, looks good and, hopefully, functional. I'm sure it will get a chance to prove itself soon.
